Do you have contactless check-in and check-out?

Contactless check-in and check-out are always an option, and are automatic if you arrive or depart when we are not at the front desk. Check-in instructions will be texted to you before your arrival, and you will be able to let yourself in using the door code assigned to you. To check out, simply drop your keys in the key box, or leave them in your room with your room door open.

Is breakfast included?

An expanded continental breakfast is included. In the summer, the buffet is available from 6am to 9am. In the winter, the buffet is available from 7am to 9am, or may be self serve with no attendant during the quieter times.

What are your covid-19 policies?

Masks are now optional at the Copper Whale Inn, but are recommended. If you have covid-19, or think you have covid-19, please do not attend breakfast in the lobby or utilize any of the common areas indoors. If you need to isolate and there is no availability to extend your stay, we can recommend other lodgings where covid-19 isolation can take place until you are able to return home. If you have symptoms of any illness, please wear a mask in the common areas.

Why do you need my arrival time and cell phone number?

The Copper Whale Inn is not a traditional hotel. The buildings are accessed by keypad code, and there is no 24-hour front desk. Though we are always available for emergenices, we need your arrival time and contact informaton in order to send you unique check-in instructions based on your arrival time and room assignment. We also like to know when everyone has checked in, so that we can rest easy that your flight arrived and you have found us and gotten to your room.

Can I store my luggage when I am not in Anchorage?

Yes! We have locked luggage storage for US$5 per bag, per day. We can add this charge to your room, or you can pay cash if you booked through a tour operator.

Do you have laundry facilities?

Yes! You may use the laundry rooms from 5-10pm. The cost is $12 to wash and dry each load. Soap is provided. We can add these charges to your room, or you can pay cash if you booked through a tour operator.

Do you have parking?

There is no vehicle parking on-site at the Copper Whale Inn! If you park behind the buildings, your vehicle will be towed. That parking lot does not belong to the Copper Whale, nor is it a public parking lot that can be used with payment. Parking there is not allowed, for any reason, at any time. However, there is plenty of parking all around the Copper Whale! Meter parking on the street is free at night and on the weekends. There are several public parking lots within a block that are available with payment via pay boxes or the posted apps on the signage at the lot. There is a parking garage one block away that can be used with payment when exiting the garage (Captain Cook Parking Garage).

What is your cancellation policy?

Summer: cancellation must be made in writing 7 days before check-in. No shows will be charged for the full stay that was reserved. Winter: cancellation must be made in writing at least 24 hours before check-in. No shows will be charged for the first night, and remaining nights will be cancelled automatically.
